The Crypto Roadmap

Learn crypto trading in the order
that keeps you in the game.

Crypto education for responsible exposure. Learn crypto trading in six stages, in this order: foundation, verification, risk and leverage, charts, portfolio, then feedback on your decisions. Most people learn it backwards: strategy first, quick wins second... and risk management last, after it's already cost them. That's why most never get results. This roadmap starts where the risk actually is, and every stage links to the guide that covers it.

How do you actually learn crypto trading?

In stages. And in the right order, which is the part everybody skips.

First the foundation: how the market works, how to hold assets safely and how much to commit. Then verification, so you can check any platform or person before you send money. Then risk management and leverage, before any strategy. Then reading charts and choosing strategies that fit the timeframe you trade. Then building a portfolio that works in both directions across the market cycle. And the whole way through, a way to get your decisions reviewed.

Notice where strategy sits? Fourth. Not FIRST.

How much time does one skill actually take?

Less than most people think, if you sit down and do the work. Take marking up basic market structure. As Chad lays it out, put in 30 to 40 minutes an evening, twice a week, for two weeks, and send your charts in for feedback as you go. "Two hours across two weeks... You should be able to knock this skill set off." And most beginners are further along than they realize. In Chad's words, "Majority of the time when somebody sends me their first chart, I can tell that they don't realize... how much further along they actually are."

If you'd rather learn it with people, every way to learn with us is on our services page, including live basics calls for beginners and our six-phase roadmap for new traders.

So why do most people learning crypto trading never get results?

Most people chase profits instead of building a process. It's just how this industry sells trading.

The online version of crypto trading is sold on screenshots: a big win, a fast multiple, a strategy that "never misses." Why is that? Screenshots get clicks. Beginners copy the outcome without the process behind it. They size their positions by excitement, right? And they learn risk management only after the market teaches it to them, with their own money paying for the lesson.

We teach it the other way around. Process first. Whatever the results turn out to be, they come from decisions you can actually repeat.

Two ways to learn trading

The quick-win version

  • Starts with a strategy that promises a fast and easy result
  • Treats leverage as the way to grow a small account quickly
  • Copies other people's trades without the reasoning behind them
  • Ignores custody and verification until something goes wrong
  • Judges progress by the last trade, win or lose, and nothing else
  • Learns risk management last, the expensive way, with real money

The responsible-exposure version

  • Starts with the foundation and custody before any strategy
  • Treats leverage as a tool sized from the stop, not a shortcut
  • Learns the thesis behind every position before taking it on
  • Verifies every platform and person before sending any money
  • Judges progress by whether the written plan was followed
  • Learns risk management first, before any strategy is taught

Process before profits.

Every stage of this roadmap is about decisions you make before the market tests you: how much to commit, where to hold it, where you're wrong and how much that's allowed to cost.

Is any of it exciting? No. It's the most boring part of trading... and it's exactly what keeps you in the market long enough to get good at it.

Crypto is volatile and trading carries real risk. Nothing on this site is financial advice.

The market isn't the problem. The way that people are engaging and interacting with the market is where we see the biggest disparity.

Common questions

  • Start with the foundation rather than a strategy: how the market works, how to hold assets safely and how much to commit. Then learn to verify platforms and people, then risk management and leverage, then chart reading and strategy, then portfolio construction. Each stage builds on the one before.

  • Some people do, but it is slower and more expensive, because every mistake has to be discovered by making it. The free guides on this site cover the material. What self-teaching usually lacks is feedback on your own decisions.

  • Online works fine, and honestly it's how most people learn this now. The market is on a screen and the charts are on a screen, so a live Zoom call with coaches beats a classroom across town. Every stage of this roadmap is free to read here, and our live basics calls run twice a week for anyone starting from zero.

  • It depends on how much time you put in and how consistently you apply what you learn. The material can be covered in weeks; applying it consistently under real conditions takes much longer. Be wary of anyone who promises a fixed timeline to results.

  • For some traders, and not for most who start. The difference is usually risk management and consistency rather than strategy. Nobody can honestly promise results, and you should be cautious of anyone who does.

  • Risk management: how much to risk per trade, where to place a stop, how to size a position from that stop and how to check your total exposure. Strategy is far easier to learn than the discipline to apply it, so build the discipline first.

  • No. The process is the same at any account size. Start small, risk a small fixed share per trade and focus on following the plan rather than on the size of the result.
