Portfolio review
A pile of coins
is not a portfolio.
A crypto portfolio review holds what you own up against our allocation models by market cap. You see where your risk actually sits, band by band. Then you decide what, if anything, changes. Your money, your call.
Why do most crypto portfolios look like a junk drawer?
Because they got built one headline at a time. A little Bitcoin. Some coin a buddy mentioned. Something that was trending on a Sunday afternoon. Nobody ever sat down and decided how much should go where.
Then the market drops, everything drops together, and they wonder why being "diversified" didn't help. Sound familiar?
Here's how we see it. Treat this market like a hobby and you get hobby results. Treat it like a professional and you've at least given yourself a real shot. This page is for the second person. The first one usually finds us after the drawdown... and that's fine too. Nobody starts out organized.
What do we measure a portfolio against?
Market cap. Not narrative, not what's trending, not what your buddy said.
We weight a crypto portfolio by market cap. These are the bands we teach:
- Bitcoin: its own category.
- Large cap: more than $10 billion in total market cap.
- Mid cap: $1 billion to $10 billion.
- Small cap: $500 million to $1 billion.
- Micro cap: under $500 million.
Crypto moves by tier. When it pumps, mid caps pump harder than large caps. When it dumps, they dump harder. Chad calls it categorically congruent. You are not diversifying the risk away. You're choosing how much volatility you sign up for, right?
The allocation models
The allocation models below are teaching ranges from our Portfolio Protocol, not instructions for your money.
| Model | Bitcoin | Large cap | Mid cap | Small cap |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conservative | 60 to 70% | 20 to 30% | 5 to 10% | 0 to 5% |
| Moderate | 40 to 55% | 25 to 35% | 10 to 20% | 5 to 10% |
Notice what's missing? Neither model holds micro caps. The failure rate down there is brutal, and the quantity dilutes whatever upside you were chasing.
Some members also keep a separate trading sleeve, apart from what they hold. When you're new, that starts around 1% of the portfolio. It grows only after you've shown you can follow your rules with it. Not before.
Whichever model you pick, stick to it. The fastest way to wreck a plan is to switch every time somebody else's portfolio looks hotter than yours. Social media is full of people doing exactly that... and they're always one rotation late. And give it time: our models assume at least two to three market cycles.
What a review covers
Six things we look at. Not one of them is a coin tip.
Allocation by band
Where your holdings sit across Bitcoin, large, mid, small and micro caps, compared with our models.
Concentration
Which single position could hurt you most, and whether that was a choice or an accident.
Trading capital
Whether the money you trade with is separate from the money you hold, and sized for your experience.
Custody
Which holdings sit on a platform and which you control yourself. Our rule: anything held longer than three months belongs in self-custody.
Your plan
Whether you have a written plan for adding, holding and taking profit, or whether the market is making those calls for you.
Your time horizon
Our models assume at least two to three market cycles. If your timeline is shorter, the model has to change.
What won't a portfolio review do?
A review won't tell you which coins to buy. It won't tell you the market is about to go your way. Anybody promising that is selling a feeling, not a process. And it won't manage anything. We don't manage your money. We teach you to.
You leave knowing where you stand and what our models say about it. What you do next is YOUR call.
How does a portfolio review fit with the other services?
Read how to build a crypto portfolio by risk tier first, then hot wallets versus cold wallets for the custody side. The Portfolio Protocol in the Skool group covers market cycles, DCA and custodianship. Crypto tax bookkeeping keeps the records a review works from. Rather talk it through privately? See one-on-one mentorship. All options are on the services page.
Do the reading first. You'll get a lot more out of the review.
Portfolio review questions
A look at how your crypto is spread across Bitcoin and the market cap bands, measured against the allocation models we teach. It shows where your risk sits. It doesn't pick coins.
In the models we teach, Bitcoin is 60 to 70% of a conservative crypto portfolio and 40 to 55% of a moderate one. Those are teaching ranges. Your own number depends on your goals and how much volatility you can stomach.
No. We teach the models and show you where you sit against them. You make every decision.

Never. A review needs to know what you hold, not your keys. Anyone who asks for them isn't reviewing anything.
